#BetaPipol today, November 23rd 2020, Malagasy; Ahmad Ahmad, ceases to be CAF President, as the adjudicatory chamber of the Independent Ethics Commission of FIFA, has just delivered its judgment after an investigation.
“The investigation into the behavior of Mr. Ahmad as president of CAF between 2017 and 2019 focused on various issues related to the governance of CAF, including the organization and funding of a pilgrimage to Mecca ( Oumra), his connections with the sports equipment company; Tactical Steel, and other activities ”, informs the press release from FIFA.
In its decision, the adjudicatory chamber of the Ethics Commission found that Mr. Ahmad breached his duty of loyalty, granted gifts and other benefits, inappropriately managed funds and abused his office as chairman of the board of CAF.
The adjudicatory chamber therefore concluded that Mr. Ahmad had violated ss. 15, 20 and 25 of the Code of ethics in force as well as art. 28 of the 2018 edition and issued a ban on all football-related activities (administrative, sports and other) at national and international levels for a period of five years.
He will also have to pay a fine of CHF 200,000(121.6 million frs).
FIFA says Ahmad Ahmad was immediately notified of the decision, and that it takes effect from this day. His suspension comes as he declared his candidacy for the next CAF presidential elections scheduled for March 2021.
