National Dialogue Day 2 Updates: Ex-Amba Fighters make stern request, Agbor Balla switches commissions, Arguments get heated!

On this Day 2 of the National Dialogue, most of the time was spent by members of the 8 different Commissions, in separate rooms deliberating on solutions. Here are the 8 different Commissions, with their respective members:

According to a source present at the National Dialogue, the following happened today:

Barrister Agbor Balla was assigned to join the Diaspora Commission, but he declined and insisted on joining the Decentralisation Commission instead. He threatened to leave if he was not allowed to.

He finally was allowed to join the Decentralisation Commission.

The arguments in the Decentralisation Commission got very heated especially because all the Anglophones in the commission insisted on federalism as the form of state to be adopted, and refused to accept anything that had to do with Decentralisation.

The Ex-Amba Fighters present, requested that atleast one of them should be present in all the 8 commissions. They were previously assigned only to the Disarmament commission.

Anglophones in the commission for the Judicial System insisted that Common Law be represented and allowed to be practiced freely in Anglophone Regions. They said there should be no harmonisation of common law and civil law.

We learnt that the arguments and deliberations in all commissions were Frank and sincere.
Day 2 just came to an end, participants are headed home.
