Efande John Lyonga, is the new interim Mayor of the Buea Council.
Fako SDO, Emmanuel Engamba Ledoux, appointed him this Wednesday October 30, 2019, to replace Late Ekema Patrick, who passed on to glory last Sunday October 27.
The interim Mayor will run the council for 60 days before fresh elections are called to get a new Mayor.
Dr Efande, voted by councillors in 2013 to man the position of Second Deputy Mayor, was reassigned the duty of First Deputy Mayor on July 27, 2019 after councillors indicted the former First Deputy Mayor, Emmanuel Motombi Mbome, for multiple absenses.
The New Interim will perform his first official duty as Mayor on Thursday November 7, 2019 during the installation of the new Divisional Officer for Buea, an occasion that will take place at the Buea Independence Square.
It should be noted that an earlier meeting convened by the SDO on Tuesday October 29, that saw Motombi Mbome absent, was an adjourned to Wednesday October 30. It is unclear if Motombi Mbome did attend the second meeting.
