Is this a move by the government to implement the recommendations from the National Dialogue?

International Labour Organisation experts are currently training mayors from all the 10 regions of Cameroon.

The training, which runs from October 14th to 18th, 2019, has as trainees, locally elected officials from the ten regions of the country.

For five days, they will be built with other administrators involved in the execution of decentralization on the execution of HIMO(Labour-Intensive) projects.

"They are advised to take this approach because it gives room not only to develop the municipality but also to give the population training, and especially financial resources to live," said Guy Fomen Koumtouzoua, regional delegate of the Ministry of the habitat and urban development (Minhdu) for the Littoral.

The advantage in this approach, as explained by the experts, lies in the use of a local workforce, low financial means, as well as light equipment.

For Sirana Embollo, HIMO specialist at the ILO, "we can ensure the creation of jobs to improve the living conditions of the local populations concerned".

Initiated by the national vocational training program of the city and the ILO, this training already feeds dreams to local elected representatives. According to most mayors, they now intend to give young people the opportunity to carry out certain projects in their communities.
