Issa Tchiroma Bakary reveals the fate of Maurice Kamto after his public rejection of results published by the Constitutional Council.

Invited to a show on Canal 2, the Minister of Communication, Issa Tchiroma Bakary spoke on several topics related to the recent presidential election.

First, concerning the Constitutional Council, Issa Tchiroma Bakary appreciated the work done by the high court of Cameroon, for him the body worked with professionalism and objectivity.

Thus, he was surprised at the challenge of the results by Maurice Kamto.

"Professor Maurice Kamto is a renowned academic, he knows the law, so he knows what he exposes himself to, by wanting to challenge the authority of the state," said the spokesman of the government.

It is worthy to note that section 136 of the Electoral Code in Cameroon states that:

"The decisions of the Constitutional Council relating to elections, election results and candidatures shall be final"

Meanwhile results approved and proclaimed by the Constitutional Council cannot be contested.

Concerning his political future, Issa Tchiroma said he could be a candidate for the parliamentary elections, however, he strongly supports that his party the NSFC should present candidates in parliamentary and municipal elections.

Regarding the scores obtained by Paul Biya in the Far North, he says that the inhabitants of these regions are proud of the CPDM candidate and as long as he will stand in the presidential election, they will vote for him.
