Cameroon Governors meet in Yaounde ahead of October Presidential election

Governors of the ten regions of Cameroon began meeting in Yaounde on Monday, for the first Governors meeting of 2018.

The meeting of the regional government representatives aimed at discussing security issues ahead of the upcoming Presidential election on October 7, is chaired by the Minister of Territorial Administration Paul Atanga Nji.

With the the North West, South West, as well as the Far North regions of Cameroon still mired in chaos ahead of the presidential election, the governors are seeking ways of holding the exercise in their various areas of jurisdiction in calm and serenity.

The rising insecurity in the Anglophone regions especially, has plunged doubts of a hitch-free election in these regions, and the Governors are deliberating on strategies to counter separatist’s fighters, who have vowed to disrupt the election.

The meeting opened just a day after the Governor of the North West Region Adolphe Lele LAfrique, imposed a curfew in the region, after separatists cut of Bamenda from the rest of Cameroon on Saturday night, destroying buses and killing at least one person.
