    Reverend Sister shot in Njinikom!


    A wild coincidence has occurred within the Anglophone Catholic Community. The Cameroon Military has shot and wounded a Rev. Sister in Njinikom, a war torn town in  the North West in the English-speaking Cameroon. Sr. Roberta, a Calasanzian Sister of Daughters of the Divine Shepherdess has been shot on the leg.

    She came to see her family in Njinikom and on going back, shooting began. She would enter a house to hide before soldiers came in front of the house shooting, hitting her leg with bullet. Reports say she's in a nearby infirmary receiving treatment.

    This is happening at a time when Catholic Christians are preparing for the burial of one of their priests, Friday August 10, 2018. Rev. Fr. Alexander Sob was shot and killed in the war torn town of Muyuka in South West Cameroon by the Cameroon military, Friday July 20, 2018. Before his death, he was Parish Priest of Bomaka and had also served as the Education Secretary of the Buea Diocese.

    At least, 26 Roman Catholic Priests have either been shot dead, wounded, molested or forced to flee their parishes by the Cameroon military. Fr Innocent Okeke, a Priest from Awka Diocese in Anambra State, Nigeria, on secondment to Mamfe Diocese who is now Parish Priest of Holy Name of Jesus Parish,  Ossing in South West Cameroon was stripped naked by soldiers.

    The Man of God was arrested in front of the church around 7am after Morning Mass on Friday July 6, 2018 and brought with other arrestees to neighbouring Mamfe in a military truck only in pants.

    On Wednesday July 19, 2018, soldiers broke into the rooms of the priests, searching for able-bodied men to slaughter. Parish Priest of the St Peter and Paul Parish Okoyong, Fr Gilbert Aurore who lives with Fr. Eustace Nkem, Chaplain of QRC, a girls' college and Fr Cornelius Jingwa, Faculty Officer of the School of Tropical  Agriculture of the Catholic University in Bachuo-Ntai were condemned to the barrels but for God who created the opportunity for them to be absent at the time of the invasion.

    Just recently, Fr. Jude Tar, a former Abbot of the Cistercian Monastery in Mbengwi, now serving as Curate at Njinikom Parish was shot on the leg by a stray military bullet. Fr. Peter Paul Ibeagha, a Nigerian Priest serving as Catholic Education Secretary for Mamfe Diocese was amongst the first Priests to be attacked. He was attacked by soldiers right in front of the St. Joesph's Cathedral, the headquarter of the Mamfe See.

    Apostle Isaac Attoh, a Ghanaian Pastor was  was also brutally murdered by the Cameroon Military. Just in the last two weeks, over 279 civilians have been targeted and killed. 9 unarmed innocent civilians including babies and a nursing mother were summarily executed in Pete Bakundu, a farming community in South West Cameroon, 13 others were killed Bai Panya, 12 in Buea 7 Etoko Mile 22 all in the South West Region. In the North West Region, 7 were killed in Bifang, 7 in Ofen-Tiben, 6 in Batibo, 2 in Diche II. As a matter of fact, soldiers have reportedly killed over 6000 people since 2016 in the the two English-speaking regions following the transforming of a peaceful protest into an armed conflict.
