    Over 100 Boko Haram fighters receive 20-30 years jail sentence in Nigeria

    As part of a series of mass trials of thousands of Boko Haram suspects, the special court for the trial of terrorism-related cases in Nigeria, has sentenced 113 people to jail for links with the Islamist militant group and for involving in acts of terrorism.

    The convicts, who were sentenced to various jail terms, were arraigned before the special court sitting at the Wawa Military Cantonment in Kainji, Niger State, by the Federal Government.

    They were charged for various offences, ranging from membership of the proscribed Boko Haram group, concealing information vital to security agencies, providing support to the sect and participating in acts of terrorism, which resulted in the death of many persons.

    The judges handed sentences of between 20 and 30 years for terror-related offences.

    It was gathered that one of those convicted took part in an attack on a military barracks from where military vehicles were stolen and used to abduct more than 200 schoolgirls in the town of Chibok in 2014.
