Nalova Lyonga orders school administrators to open fees account for 2018-2019 academic year

The Minister of Secondary Education Nalova Lyonga has ordered secondary schools in the country to open treasury accounts ahead of the 2018-2019 academic year.

The order is contained in a release addressed to all Regional and Divisional Delegates of Secondary Education as well as principals of schools
“Students will henceforth pay their tuition and examination fees by electronic means”, the release read in part.

“School principals are accountable for these operations which require that each school should have a treasury account for the transfer of the said fees,” it added.

This decision follows the signing of a convention last month in Yaounde between the Ministry of Secondary Education and some financial and mobile telecommunications institutions on the payment of tuition and examination fees.

These fees will henceforth be paid through these institutions to avoid cases of school officials mismanaging funds as has been the case in the past. The Minister of Secondary Education has warned that whoever goes against this provision will be subjected to subsequent sanctions.
