“I take full responsibility for Nigeria loss” Odion Ighalo

Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo, says he takes full responsibility for the team's defeat to Argentina on Tuesday night.

The Super Eagles crashed out of the world cup after they failed to obtain at least a draw against
Argentina,  and Ighalo missed a couple of chances that could have secured victory  for Nigerian.
In a chat with TheCable, Ighalo said he is fully responsibility for the loss of the match and has already apologised to his teammates.

''I apologise to Nigeria. I apologise to my team mates. I take responsibility for this game because I had taken those chances I had that would have made it a different ball game now. But that is football and life has to continue” The Cable quoted him as saying.

“It’s a sad day for me, the boys and the country because we went out in a bad manner and we deserved more in the game. We had a penalty in the game and another one which the referee did not give. I missed a couple of chances that would have finished the game but that’s football because sometimes you win and sometimes to lose.”

Argentina and Lionel Messi progressed to the last 16 of the World Cup by the skin of their teeth after an 86th minute strike from defender Marcos Rojo handed them a 2-1 victory over Nigeria.
Messi had put Argentina ahead in the 14th minute, with a fabulously taken goal but the Africans equalised through a Victor Moses penalty in the 51st minute.

Croatia advanced as  Group D winners with the maximum nine points after beating Iceland 2-1 and Nigeria were just minutes away from joining them, before central defender Rojo superbly volleyed home a Gabriel Mercado cross from the right.
