15 dead and 70 injured in strange Nairobi wild fire

At least fifteen persons have died and 70 others injured after wild fire swept through a market and nearby homes in central Nairobi Kenya, tvcnews reports.

The blaze, which started in the early hours of the morning, broke out in a timber yard and spread through Gikomba market, which has a history of fire disasters.

Victims have been taken to Kenyatta National Hospital and Mama Lucy Hospital.

Apart from the number of casualties tallied, severe material damages have also been recorded.

Gikomba is the heartbeat of a huge informal market, selling everything from second-hand clothes to hardware.
