Traditional rulers in Meme Division take inventory of destroyed villages in the South West for Paul Biya to reconstruct them.

Traditional rulers in Meme Division of the South West Region have promised to immediately swing into action and start counting all houses in their respective villages that have been razed by security forces in the wake of the Anglophone Crisis.

The Chiefs took the commitment on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at the Meme Divisional headquarters in Kumba, after a stormy conclave with the Senior Divisional Officer (SDO), Chamberlin Ntou’ou Ndong.

The agenda of the meeting was to task the custodians of the culture and tradition of the Meme people to go back to their various villages and establish an exhaustive inventory of all the houses that were burnt down during the numerous fracases between Ambazonia Restoration forces and Cameroonian military.

The list of all house razed, according to Chamberlin Ntou’ou Ndong, when finally established, will be forwarded to President Paul Biya.

Speaking at the meeting, the SDO of Meme, urged the Chiefs to be meticulous in establishing an exhaustive list of houses burnt down across his administrative unit.

The administrator was upbeat that after the exercise would have been completed and the list forwarded to the Head of State, President Paul Biya may order for the reconstruction of these villages as one of the steps towards looking for a lasting solution to the Anglophone Crisis and bring back citizens, who have deserted their ancestral sites and homes.

The Prefect said a similar situation happened at Shell Creek in Idabatu, Ndian Division of the South West Region some years back when he (Ntou’ou Ndong ) was still serving as SDO of Ndian Division.

“During the incident, President Biya intervened at Shell Creek, Idabatu and changed the beauty of this seaside settlement,” he said.

It will be recalled that several villages in the South West Regions have been reduced to rubbles allegedly by the forces of law and order as they struggle to maintain the territorial integrity of Cameroon that has come under repeated threats from Anglophones who are calling for the restoration of the West Cameroon Statehood otherwise known as 'Separatists'.
