    Ambassador of the USA to Cameroon meets with Agbor Balla, Other civil society leaders and clergy men to find solutions for the Anglophone Crisis!

    Peter Henry Barlerin, Ambassador of the United States of America to Cameroon, met with some civil society leaders, clergy, organisations and government representatives to for a round table discussion to come up with solutions to put an end to the Anglophone Crisis that is plaguing the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon.

    During the round-table discussions, Barrister Agbor Nkongho, President of the Centre for Human Rights and Democracy in Africa, who was present, said peace can only return to Cameroon if the detained Anglophone leaders and activists are released and if frank and inclusive dialogue is ensured.

    Hear him; “I emphasized that, failure to keep promises made at the Foumban conference is a huge cause for today’s crisis, including extensive social exclusion, social and economic injustice, structurally divided society and political discrimination”.

    “To restore peace and calm tensions, Mancho Bibixy, Terence Penn Khan and others facing trial at Military Courts should be released. Ayuk Tabe Julius and 47 others arrested in Nigeria and repatriated to Cameroon should be given access to their lawyers and offered amnesty to participate in dialogue for peace building”.

    “An inclusive, reconciliation and cooperative process of dialogue should be initiated with neutral parties to ensure respect of resolutions. Ending the conflict through dialogue will speed up disarmament, return of refugees and internally displaced.”

    “It is time to put a permanent end to killings on both sides, violence and suffering upon the innocent civilian population.”
