His Excellency Paul Biya and the President of the People’s Republic of China – H.E. XiJinping officially met in Beijing last week
Sino-Cameroon relations were strengthened with the signing of five cooperation agreements.
It should be noted that president Paul Biya is the first foreign leader to be received in Beijing following the re-election of President Xi JINGPING for a second five year mandate.
Mrs. Chantal BIYA and the wife of the Chinese President had time for cordial discussions in a separate setting.
Five development agreements were signed on President Paul Biya’s State visit to the People’s Republic of China. These include:
1) An economic and technical cooperation agreement between the governments of Cameroon and China
2) A memorandum of understanding on the development of human resources
3) A protocol agreement to reinforce cooperation on infrastructural development between the Chinese Ministry of Trade and Cameroon’s Ministry of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development.
4) A capacity-building framework agreement on production between the National Development and Reform Commission of the People’s Republic of China and Cameroon’s Ministry of the Economy, Planning and Regional Development.
5) A Concessional Loan agreement between the Exim Bank of China and Cameroon to cover phase two of the potable water supply project in nine towns in Cameroon.
After that President Paul Biya paid a visit to the headquarters of a Chinese multinational media company – Star Times.
