Detained former Prime Minister, Ephraim Inoni, might be released on presidential pardon one of these days!

On April 16, 2012, former Prime Minister Ephraim Inoni was arrested and thrown into prison.

Today, he is one of the personalities highlighted by the newspaper L'oeil du Sahel as likely to obtain a possible presidential pardon.

In its newsstand edition of Wednesday, March 21, 2018, the newspaper explains that Ephraim Inoni will likely benefit from the President's pardon because: " of his silence since his incarceration"

Also, " to his conciliatory behavior and his soothing tone towards the people of his village, some of whom often decide to rebel.

It would therefore be a major asset in the resolution of the conflict of the Anglophone crisis."

Sentenced to 20 years in prison on October 2, 2013, he was prosecuted for the embezzlement of public funds, sums evaluated at 287 million FCFA and 1 billion 400 million FCFA, in a case related to the leasing of aircraft by the defunct Cameroon Airlines between 2002 and 2003, when he was Deputy Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic.

This Bakingili native (in the South-West region) was criticized for the violation of the procurement rules and the overpayment of what should have been paid to the hirer. He had appealed on points of law and the Supreme Court had confirmed his sentence of 20 years' imprisonment.
