Peter Mafany Musonge discloses the plans of the National Commission of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism for 2018!

In an interview with Cameroon Tribune on newsstands Thursday, January 11, 2018, the president of the National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism; Peter Mafany Musonge, describes its roadmap for the year 2018.

"2018 will be a decisive year in the existence of the Commission. At first glance, I remind you that last year, we drew up our plan of action, which the Head of State largely approved. This action plan extends over a period of 18 months, with a target date of December 2018 ".

Set up in the second half of 2017 after its creation by presidential decree on 23 January 2017, the Commission carried out some activities that fell within the scope of this action plan. For example, "we have made courtesy and work visits to the main bodies of the State to solicit their support. The large-scale activity was the descent into the 37 ministerial departments of the Republic to ensure the sound application of the constitutional provisions on the promotion of bilingualism," says Peter Mafany Musonge.

With regards to the action plan, he adds, "this year, we will dwell on the state of play of living together in Cameroon. We will begin with a literature search, an inventory of the texts governing living together, their review and finally, the establishment of a legal framework conducive to living together ".

In addition, "we will carry out a listening mission in the ten regions of the national territory to reinforce the will and the daily practice of the living-together. To do this, we will hold meetings with members of civil society, and vulnerable groups like women and children.

If in 2017 the National Commission for the promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism was created and worked with a grant, its 2018 budget is contained in the general framework of the Finance Act promulgated a few weeks ago. This will be used for staff recruitment and monthly salaries. The acquisition of equipment and the logistics needed to work better is also on the agenda."
