    2 Cameroonian actresses casted in Marvel's Black Panther Movie; Sasha Morfaw & Constance Ejuma!

    Marvel's Black Panther is an upcoming American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. The movie is one of the most highly anticipated movies this year especially because 90% of it's cast is made up of Blacks.

    It is set to be released on February 16th and it has already made history as the first 24 hours of ticket presales for the film were the largest ever seen for a Marvel movie. The record was previously held by Captain America: Civil War, which was released in 2016.

    The movie features prominent Black American actors like Forest Whitaker, Michael B Jordan, Angela Basset and several others.

    A good number of Black actors from Africa have also been casted in the movie; like Lupita'a Nyongo'o from Kenya, Florence Kasumba from UgandaAtandwa Kani from South AfricaIsaac de Bankolé from Ivory Coast, and several others among whom are Cameroonian actresses; Constance Ejuma and Sasha Morfaw.

    Constance Ejuma was born in Cameroon and raised in the United States. She studied theater at the University of Toronto in Canada. received a Master's Degree in Mass communication from Leicester University in the UK.

    Through her career, Ejuma has appeared in TV shows like Monk, Southland, and Eagleheart. She has also appeared in films like Dad's War, The Undershepherd, 24, Ben & Ara and 8.

    In an exclusive to Realalia Blog; Constance said: “I am not part of the main; I played one of the warrior women, the Dora Milaje, in a non-speaking role. Because of this, the casting process wasn’t what I was used to. I ended up working as a Stuntwoman which is an interesting and eye-opening experience in and of itself. There aren’t nearly enough women of color in this field and the few that are,  they are incredibly talented and great at what they do.”

    When asked about her experience on the set of Black Panther she said: “It’s a great feeling to be a small part of this big franchise which has a lot of significance for the African American community and means something to people of color worldwide.”

    Sasha Morfaw is from North Carolina. Her family is originally from Cameroon, Africa. She attended Elon University for BFA in Musical Theater. She spent several summers performing in local and regional theater before deciding to move to Los Angeles. After moving to LA she started working in commercials which led to booking several roles in film and television. She is known for the TV Series; Halt and Catch Fire (2017), TURN: Washington's Spies (2017) and now; Black Panther.

    In Black Panther, she plays the role of a Nigerian woman.
