Wayne Rooney Receives 2 years Driving Ban Due to Drunk-Driving

31 year old English footballer Wayne Rooney who was arrested for drunk-driving arrived in court wearing his wedding ring despite rumours that he has separated from his wife.
The Everton striker, 31, arrived just after 9.30am in a dark suit flanked by a dozen police officers with his hands in his pockets, as a scrum of photographers gathered around.
Rooney was arrested at the wheel of ‘party girl’ Laura Simpson’s black Volkswagen Beetle convertible, plunging his marriage into crisis.  The former England footballer met Simpson, 29, in a bar on a night out with friends and left driving her car.
The case was being judged at Stockport Magistrates’ Court UK where he was charged guilty and given a £170 damage costs,a two-year driving ban, a 12 months community order and 100 hours of community service.
In an attempt to reduce the conviction, the judges decided that the two - years driving ban will be reduced to 24 weeks (6 months) if he accepts to undergo a specialist driving course by 2 February 2019 which according to reports Rooney accepted.
In a statement issued after his plea, Rooney said:
"Following today's court hearing I want publicly to apologise for my unforgivable lack of judgment in driving while over the legal limit. It was completely wrong.
I have already said sorry to my family, my manager and chairman and everyone at Everton FC. Now I want to apologise to all the fans and everyone else who has followed and supported me throughout my career.
Of course I accept the sentence of the court and hope that I can make some amends through my community service."

Rooney's legal team had asked District Judge John Temperley to consider not imposing a community order because of his ongoing charitable work.
