    MINPOSTEL debunk rumours of internet shutdown in Anglophone Cameroon

    The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications has refuted claims it is planning to shutdown internet in the Southwest and Northwest Regions of Cameroon.

    According to a press release made public on Wednesday 27 September 2017, and signed by Posts and telecommunications Minister Minette Libom Li Likeng, the minister condemned the rumours in strong terms stating that the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications does not intend to proceed with a cut off of Internet in the Southwest and Northwest Regions.

    Minister Minette Libom Li Likeng also reiterated that her government department has taken actions under the auspices of the Prime Minister, Head of Government and in line with the high instructions of the head of state. 

    The Minister therefore called on the general public to disregard information that has been circulating on social media for some time, claiming that the Ministry intends to cut off of Internet in the Southwest and Northwest Regions in the coming days.
