Assou Ekotto speaks out on racial discrimination in France!

Except you have been living under a rock, then you should know about the terrorist attacks that hit France in November of last year. To pay homage to the victims of that attack, Assou Ekotto and all his team mates in Saint Etienne were asked to wear a black arm band during their matches that proceeded the attack. Assou Ekotto refused to wear the black arm band and he disassociated himself from his teammates during that period. He is now speaking out on the matter. He says he refused to wear the black arm band for the victims in Paris because when he wanted to wear it for the victims of the Boko Haram attacks in North Cameroon, he was denied approval. This is what he said:
"Shortly before, there was an attack in northern Cameroon and I was refused to wear it for a Europa League match I know the principle of the 'death kilometer': an assassin who kills two people in the sixteenth district in Paris will make more noise than if he kills a hundred at the other side of the world. But as a very straight man, I do not see why I should wear an armband for dead in Paris and not in Cameroon. I am neither black nor white, except my skin color. For me, there is no VIP dead."
It is worthy to note that Assou Ekotto was born in Arras; France, but with a Cameroonian parent. This is such a brave move. Racial discrimination is just despicable, especially when it concerns tragedies like terrorist attacks. Hope more and more people can speak out on such discrimination so that it would stop.
